Tips to Install Wide Plank Floors
Do you want to redo the flooring of your house? Well, if you do then you might want to consider a wide plank floor. Wide plank floors can add a country flair and historical touch to your house and warm up the appearance of your home. In the wide plank floors, the width of the planks is 4 to 6 inches more. At certain times the wide plank floors are laid down in a random manner using short wood pieces while at other times single boards are used. So, are you planning to install the wide plank floors in your house? If you are, here are some installation tips that you can take into account.
While installing the wide plank flooring, you will have to wipe your sub floor. Dirt, grit and other issues make the sub floor uneven and this can result in the edges of the floor to pop. A dirty sub floor can also make it difficult for the glue which is used to lay the boards to stick on. Weak adhesion can lead to air pockets on the floors. Secondly, gluing and nailing the wide plank floors is important. When applying glue on the boards start with the centre and then spread out. After applying the glue, place the boards in the pattern that you have chosen. Thirdly, the wide plank floors should be sanded carefully. Since the floors are nowadays made using softer pine you have to be careful while sanding the floors. Handheld sander should be used for sanding.
