What is Home Improvement?

Basically, home improvement or what better known as home renovation, is a simple process of making additions and repairs to your home in order to improve and strengthen its structure as well as appearance, thus making it truly one of a kind.

Taking Care of Luxury Linens

Linen is a sort of fabric made out of one of the strongest plant fiber materials which is obtained from the stems of the flax plant (linum usitatissimum) that creates its unique quality and texture. In fact, flax fiber is stronger than cotton fiber, yet linen fabrics are soft and smooth, and are great heat conductor which helps maintain its coolness.

Luxury linens are very popular among many people, especially women. Luxury linens are used in all sorts of cloths in a home such as bed linens, towels, curtains, table cloths and bath linens to create a fresh, elegant, comfortable and luxurious atmosphere. Though they could be a little bit pricey, but it is worth the money.

It is important to take a proper care of your luxury linens in order to make sure that they will be able to withstand wears and tears for a longer period. The following tips on linen care could be helpful to you.

Linens can be washed in a washing machine but before you start laundering them, make sure that you know which washing detergent is right to use. Detergents containing bleaching agents could be used for white linens but definitely not for colored linens and remember, chlorine bleaches should never be used. Instead, use oxygen-type bleaches to avoid damaging the fibers.

On the other hand, for colored luxury linens, consider using a pure soap or gentle detergent to wash them so that the vibrant colors are preserved. Ironing the linens after drying them could be a little bit tricky and it is not really necessary. Just make sure that the linens are slightly damp when you iron them and try to use a steam iron. Additionally, you can also spray on some linen water, a type of fragrance while ironing to make the fabric smell better.
